Hello, my dear friends. Nice to see you on JollyRoacher.
My name is Vil Malinoshevskyi. I am the author of this website and the host of the YouTube channel Jolly Roacher.
I am a biologist. Animals and plants interested me since childhood, so all the shelves in my bedroom were filled with encyclopedias and guides mixed with books by Gerald Durrell, and on two balconies in the apartment and even in the utility room (shared by 4 apartments in the house) lived gerbils, hamsters, finches, leopard geckos, yellow-bellied toads and several hundred rats.
To my surprise my first higher education was not a science major. At that time I became a specialist in unconventional energy sources.
Later I corrected this mistake and got my second higher education at Odessa Mechnikov National University at the Faculty of Biology, becoming a certified biologist. There, at the university, I studied birds – I spent nights in cemeteries watching long-eared owls, searched for tawny owls in the Carpathian Mountains and traveled to the tundra to look at snowy owls.
At some point I even began to think that I liked traveling more than studying animals. Therefore, I did not develop a scientific career, but I have been many times in regions with very interesting fauna and flora – beyond the Arctic Circle, in the Mediterranean and Egypt, in Kamchatka, traveled all over the Caucasus and traveled far and wide in my native Ukraine.
And it is quite logical that my subsequent work and activity were somehow connected with biology: projects that were in one way or another oriented on animals and plants, turned out to be better for me than others, were easier for me. As a result I managed to work with several sites dedicated to insect pests and their control, successfully collaborated with several online stores of products for animals and pest control services.
While working with a pest control service I discovered how useful it can be to simply help people figure out what kind of arthropods they encounter in their homes, and find out whether these invertebrates are harmful, dangerous, or, conversely, harmless. That’s why now both the channel and the Jolly Roacher website try to solve this very problem – I show here arthropods that people find in their homes, explain what these creatures are, how you can identify them yourself, and what to do if you find the same cohabitants in your home.
And if this problem is relevant for you, you can always write to me, send me photos and videos of your pests, and I will try to identify them.
This will make it much easier for you to deal with (or perhaps not have to deal with) these guests at all, and on the Jolly Roacher website and channel, your photos and videos will help many people solve the pest problem in their homes.
So feel free to contact me, and keep your home insect-free!
