Carpet and skin beetles from the family Dermestidae are not the most common or most abundant pests in homes and apartments. But where they appear, they can cause a lot of trouble – ruining fabrics, carpets, upholstery, expensive bioligy collections, or just foodstuffs. At the same time, adult skin beetles are not always recognized as pests at all, while their larvae look so peculiar that many people do not even know to which group of arthropods they belong. Therefore, photos and videos of them are often sent to me for identification. Let’s look at these shots together:
